We can file tax for free under CRA's Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
Eligibility
- No income
- Modest annual income (based on family size): 1 person - $35000 , 2 people - $45000, 3 people - $47500, 4 people - $50000, 5 people - $52500, More than 5 people $52500, plus $2500 for each additional person
- Income from sources: Employment income, Pension, Registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs), Interest (under $1,000), Benefits (e.g., Canada Pension Plan, old age security, disability insurance, employment insurance, and social assistance), Scholarships, fellowships, bursaries, or grants
Required Documents
- Proof of identity
- Personal information: Fill the personal information form
- Receipts of expenses
- Tax information slips

- Download form rc151 from “Forms Centre” on this website or from CRA website: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/forms/rc151.html
- Fill the form Page-1 & Page-2 (all relevant sections), print and send to CRA at the address mentioned on Page-4 in the form
- If you want to get payments deposited directly into your bank account, attach a void cheque with the form

CANADA CHILD BENEFIT (CCB)
Understand CCB program benefits, eligibility and application criteria
The Canada child benefit (CCB) is a non‑taxable amount paid monthly to help eligible families with the cost of raising children under 18 years of age. The CCB may include an additional amount for the child disability benefit.
By applying for the CCB, you also register your children for the goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit, the climate action incentive payment, and any related federal, provincial, and territorial programs administered by the CRA.
